Que se passe-t-il derrière les murs d'un commissariat ? Après avoir intégré la police, Valentin Gendrot a, durant six mois, travaillé au commissariat du XIXe arrondissement de Paris. Une arme à la ceinture, le journaliste sous couverture a rejoint une brigade dont certains membres tutoient, insultent et distribuent régulièrement des coups à des jeunes hommes noirs et arabes qu'ils surnomment "les bâtards". Valentin Gendrot ne cache rien : précarité des conditions de travail, le suicide d'un collègue du commissariat, propos racistes, bavures, violence. Il raconte.
