Résumé
This study follows a Ph.D. the author completed in January 1999 at the École pratique des hautes études, University of La Sorbonne, Paris, France. Originally, the author worked as a librarian in Europe and in the Middle East, under contract to set up libraries and/or computerize catalogs. More recently, she has been contributing to the preparation of publications as a writer, translator, editor or indexor. Since October 1996 she has been working mainly for the International Labour Office (ILO), Geneva, Switzerland.
